After years of working in the medical field, I decided it was time to enhance my abilities to help patients feel better. This decision came about years ago when I was sent to physical therapy for crippling pain in my hands and arms. My MRI showed swelling around my spinal cord due to a severe muscle spasm.
After weeks of Physical Therapy, muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatories--I didn't see many results.
One day, my PT said "I'm going to try massage. I am not a massage therapist, but I am willing to try anything to make you feel better". She slowly applied pressure back and forth on the tight areas. A few minutes later she pressed a little deeper and used her thumbs to work out the spasm. By that afternoon I felt 50% better. By the time I left work that day I could hold the steering wheel with both hands and no pain.
We continued each day with a combination of deep heat and massage and within a week, I was back to my old self. I proclaimed to my therapist she was a miracle worker!
I realized massage was the answer to my pain and had to find out more about it!
I graduated from Cincinnati School of Medical Massage in the spring of 2001 and upon receiving my medical license from the State of Ohio Medical Board, Schott Massage Therapy was born!
My mission is to help people acheive a higher level of health and a sense of well being and joy.
